From July 8-July 11th, our beneficiary is the Bird family! A few of you nominated their family to benefit from our mission and overall goal of donating $25,000. Mitch, Kendra and their four children could really use our help!
In 2020, Brielle Bird was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma at just 4 years old. Neuroblastoma is a fast spreading cancer that starts in the nerve tissue. For Brielle, it developed in her abdomen; they found 1 large tumor and 2 small masses, and cancer taking over her bone marrow.
She completed 6 rounds of chemo treatments, 2 bone marrow transplants, 12 rounds of radiation, 6 rounds of immunotherapy, and weeks of at home meds. In 2022, she and her family rang the bell after 2 years of treatment.
Brielle was considered cancer free for 22 months, and unfortunately on January 17th, 2024, they found out that she had relapsed. Her cancer is back, and it has spread everywhere, including spots that were not there before. Relapse treatment is unfortunately unknown. It’s all a guessing game, the statistics aren’t great.
Brielle is now 8 years old and she and her family are pleading for a big miracle while they appreciate the small moments together. She has three younger siblings and they just welcomed her youngest brother, Knox, into the world in May (who also had a NICU stay of his own). Medical bills add up, and with needing to take extra time off of work for Brielle’s treatments and continuing to care for their other children - every dollar helps.
