Our Second Beneficiary

From July 4-July 7th, our beneficiary is Courtney Hilburn! Jordan, our first beneficiary graciously insisted on selecting others to benefit from our mission and overall goal of donating $25,000. She personally nominated Courtney and shared how deserving she knows Courtney is and wanted to help if she could.

Two years ago she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma breast cancer. While being a mom to four kids under the age of six, she had a double mastectomy, a month of radiation, and a reconstruction surgery. While she publicly shared her cancer journey on her social media pages, most people don’t know that her husband was let go from his job on the last day of her radiation treatments.

Her husband was ultimately able to find a new job, but it unfortunately doesn’t provide sufficient medical insurance coverage. While the Hilburn’s have been able to get by and cover their basic needs for a family of six, it has taken its toll and Courtney hasn't been able to afford to go to any medical appointments in over a year. They are stuck having to pay everything out of pocket and with already trying to overcome the financial burden her cancer diagnosis put on her family, along with raising four children, they don’t have any extra funds to spare.

Jordan shared with us that despite these setbacks and challenges, Courtney has been an example of true friendship, love, and support even while she had her family have been silently struggling financially themselves.

Sometimes it’s the people you least expect help that need it the most, and Courtney and her family couldn’t be more deserving of our support.
